The Dark Side of the Moon was Pink Floyd's eighth studio album and was released in March of 1973. It was originally a mere compilation of various musically experiments the band attempted at their previous live shows that included the use of new and unique instruments and playing techniques. The album turned out to be a musical introspective on the human psyche and became an instant hit. It was at the top of the charts for record time and is still being performed by various bands and at laser light shows throughout the world today.
