Ten was Pearl Jam's debut studio album released in the musically transitional year of 1991. Following in the footsteps of bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam offered a newer, grungier approach to rock and roll. However, with a song like "Black" and a voice like that of frontman Eddy Vedder's its hard to stay grungy.

Ten opens with a list of chart topping tracks suck as "Once," "Even Flow," and "Alive" which are all quite upbeat and inspiring songs despite their slightly darker tones in contrast to music previously released in that era. Eddy Vedder has a deep and harmonizing voice that really added the soul needed to convey the message presented with his lyrics and was accompanied by a Fender Strat that could make you cry.

Also on this amazing album was the hit song "Jeremy" that sprung much controversy with its video that originally depicted a young boy shooting his classmates to death. It wasn't long before MTV was forced to have the video edited so that no school shootings were actually displayed. Every song on Pearl Jam's Ten is musical gold making Ten easily one of the top rock albums.
