It wouldn't be wrong to address the recent youth as the gadget generation. According to a study conducted by Pew Internet & American Life Project, 96% of undergraduates owned a cell phone or any other gadget in 2010. These College students owned a wide range of gadget compared to the overall adult population.
CourseSmart mentioned in asurvey that when it comes to gadget behavior, today's students and youth carry a digital backpack. Above one-quarter of students mentioned their laptop as the most important gadget in their bag which is three times the number of students who mentioned textbooks. A majority of undergraduates owned a laptop and an iPod at 88% and 84%, respectively. Only 52% of adults had laptops and only 45% owned an MP3 player.

There has always been a dilemma regarding the fact that when new gadgets are launched on the market what is the right time to buy them. If one buys these new gadgets too soon, one can have more time enjoying its features, but if one waits for a longer time, one has to pay more.
Oren Etzioni, the chief technology cofounder of the company Decide, opined in a startup of helping consumers decide whether to buy new gadgets products or wait. He said that it's possible to automate intelligent predictions about the cost factor of new gadgets based on several aspects. These involve monitoring of price trends, news, rumors, and technical specifications. 'Decide' hasn't released predictions for the tablets but it currently makes suggestions for other new gadgets.

The recent studies have shown that digital gadgets can cause squinting and eyesight problems in children. Introducing tiny digital gadgets like ipad with fairy tales and poems to children can prove to be harmful for them.
The children who haven't been chained to schoolwork, spent summer vacation either watching TV, playing video games or tinkering with digital gadgets like iPads. Dr Ji Guifang, the director of the Ophthalmology Department said that "When children finally got permission to play with digital gadgets many children couldn't put themselves away from the screens which leads to deterioration of eyesight. The studies conducted by the Center for Disease Control show that middle school students spend more than 2.8 hours a school day on average watching the screens of digital gadgets and screens.
